First and foremost, a kitchen backsplash is a durable, long lasting and easy to clean upgrade for the most used room in most american homes. The classic brick pattern subway installation can be spotted in new custom homes, remodels from any time period or construction, commercial kitchens, and of course subways (where the original, century old tile can still be seen in many stations). However, a backsplash can also be the focal point of a kitchen: a much needed splash of color, a unique pattern, maybe even pictures or a motif that can be tied into architectural or decorating elements around the home. ZELLIGE TILE

honestly, this deserves a blog post all its own. Zellige tile technically refers to a traditional Morroccan tile, which is handmade, sunbaked, then finally hand glazed and fired. In Morrocco, zellige is installed on all sorts or surfaces, often in patterns and often as well without grout joints. Bright colors and artisan imperfections or a classic of the style, and also what make them
